Anastasia Beverly Hills: Modern Renaissance & Glow Kit

ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS: MODERN RENAISSANCE & GLOW KIT
I wanted to write this post predominantly about the Anastasia Beverly Hills (ABH) Modern Renaissance palette, but I am a huge fan of every ABH product I own, so I wanted to incorporate them into my pictures and video (below), plus they photograph so well together!

I want to talk about the Glow Kit. ABH currently do five Glow Kits, Gleam, Sun Dipped, That Glow, and their newest releases Sweets and Moon Child. If you are looking to expand your highlighter collection I would highly recommend one of these kits, they sell for $40 USD, which is only $10 per shade, the quality is great, you get a gorgeous variety of shades that you can use on their own to compliment the colour of an eye look, or mix them together for a unique intense highlight. The pans are massive, so will last ages and they are also suitable to wear as eyeshadows or on your body.

I recently purchased the Glow Kit in Gleam, it has a pink, a gold, a nude/peach and a sheer shade… the colours are described far more eloquently on the ABH website! It’s quite hard to get a good swatch photo, but they are very finely milled powders that don’t sit on the skin, with just the right amount of pigment that blends to give a natural glow.

Now onto the star of the show, the Modern Renaissance palette. The palette itself feels well made, with some weight to it, and the lid is a soft felt texture, which adds a bit of a luxury feel. Inside is a very decent sized mirror, although you can fold the lid all the way back to tuck it away if you want to.
There is a gorgeous selection of warm colours, with neutrals, reds, pinks, oranges and browns. The swatch above is a single swipe on my skin from my finger. I don’t want to say the same old thing that everyone else is saying about this palette, but the formula really is perfectly pigmented and beautifully blendable.
The array of colours are simplistic and compliment each other, but they are also very versatile, if you search #modernrenaissance on instagram you can really appreciate just how versatile. I look forward to sitting down to do my makeup and seeing what looks I can come up with.
It’s hard to pick a favourite shade because it’s the colour combinations that really make this palette. I am usually a sucker for matte shades, but these palette has two gorgeous shimmery highlight shades, Vermeer & Primavera, which I’m in love with.

The brush that comes with the palette isn’t bad; I find the small buffing end is pretty good, the larger blending end is quite scratchy, but totally useable if you were on the go. I thought it was worth mentioning, as I wouldn’t usually rate the brushes that come with palettes, but this one is ok.
I bought the eye shadow and highlighter palettes directly from the ABH website and I want to talk about shipping. The set international shipping cost is USD $17.95, which isn’t the cheapest, however, I placed the order on a Monday and it was in my hands on the Thursday… that’s quicker than orders I’ve placed on NZ websites, and totally worth the cost!
